It was only two days ago that I happily sat in the View London office, typing merrily away on my keyboard as I’m doing now to bring you all a rather charmingly witty (if I do say so myself) blog about East versus West – the Notting Hill Carnival goes head to head against the new Shoreditch festival Eastern Electrics. See Eastern Electrics Versus the Notting Hill Carnival blog for the full story...
Well, you can imagine my crestfallen little face when I finally got an email this morning confirming the secret location of the Eastern Electrics festival on… Southwark Street! Hang on a minute, isn’t Southwark Street in, well, Southwark? Well yes, it is. And last time I checked that wasn’t Shoreditch – unless, that is, Shoreditch has recently drastically increased the scope of its boundaries? I don’t know what that means for house prices.
Now, if I had bought tickets I’d be a little miffed that the cutting edge East London festival had been usurped to South of the river. However, stifling my immediate decision to definitely attend SW4 instead, I did have to grudgingly admit that the location in some arches with a large outdoor courtyard close to the Tate Modern is a rather attractive thought. It’s not massively trendy though eh?

So disregard my last blog – it looks like the South wins with the Clapham Common festivals SW4 and Get Loaded going head to head with Eastern Electrics.
I guess I’ll have to create my own fun in proper East London then – who’s with me?
